Namibia: A Journey through the Wilds

Table of Contents

Exploring Etosha National Park

Our journey begins at a campsite just outside the southern gate of Etosha National Park. Although it wasn't initially part of our itinerary, we quickly realized that making some changes to our schedule would allow us to make the most of our time in Namibia. The landscape was constantly changing, and we were amazed by the beautiful rock formations and breathtaking scenery. One campsite, in particular, stood out - the And The Disorders Campsite, nestled between stunning rock formations in the heart of the Namib Desert. It was a truly wild and otherworldly experience.

A Taste of Tomorrowland

The next leg of our journey took us to Tomorrowland, a place known for its desert elephants and dramatic landscapes. We were surrounded by giant rock formations made from weathered orange-colored boulders, making us feel like we were on another planet. The campsite at Tomorrowland was completely off the grid, with no restaurant, Wi-Fi, or hot water. If we wanted a hot shower, we had to light a fire under the water tank. Despite the lack of modern amenities, the wild and untouched nature of the campsite made it a truly unforgettable experience.

Unveiling the Skeleton Coast

One of the highlights of our trip was our visit to the Skeleton Coast. Its name was derived from the numerous shipwrecks that have washed up along its shores. The combination of rough seas, strong winds, and thick fog has caused countless maritime accidents. As we drove along the coastline, we couldn't help but marvel at the sheer beauty of the rugged landscape. We briefly stopped in the town of Henties Bay before reaching our campsite in Swakopmund. This charming town offered a peaceful respite from the hustle and bustle of other tourist destinations we had visited. Unfortunately, our attempts to view a shipwreck were hampered by persistent locals trying to sell us goods. Despite this setback, the overall experience of the Skeleton Coast was still awe-inspiring.

The End of the Journey

Our journey came to an end at the picturesque campsite in Swakopmund. With its peaceful ambiance, reliable Wi-Fi, and friendly dog, it was the perfect place to reflect on our adventures in Namibia. From the wild landscapes of Etosha National Park to the alien-like beauty of Tomorrowland and the haunting shores of the Skeleton Coast, Namibia truly captivated our hearts and minds.
